HOLT ISLAND BIRD AND WILDLIFE LIST MARCH 2022

The latest list can be viewed HERE. March saw some notable additions, namely Lesser Redpolls and Siskins, an early Swallow and perhaps the most surprising and out-of-place bird – a Red-legged Partridge, which generally prefers farmland and open scrubland. These new additions take our bird species up to 93.

The badgers are very active around the Island, and hopefully this month we may see some cubs. There are at least two foxes - we think one is a youngster that has not yet learned to fully respect badgers! Although we have not recently seen the Muntjac fawn, two females and a male have been sighted.
